SnugSleep™ Wool Duvets
At SnugSleep we specially select hi-bulk premium New Zealand wool to ensure our duvets have maximum loft and insulation. Our specialized carding and manufacturing processes further enhance this natural wool loft for optimum insulation and comfort. However a great wool is only half the job. The material that is chosen to cover it is equally important. We choose a soft, drapable percale cotton that allows maximum breathability. We do not use downproof cotton or cotton with too high a thread count as these materials greatly reduce wool's unique moisture controlling benefits. Our minimal quilting stitch pattern allows the wool fill to regain maximum loft.
SnugSleep wool duvets are available in three weights:
- Summerweight - perfect for warmer weather or year round in an apartment or condo
- Regular Weight - for many sleepers just perfect all year
- Deluxe Weight - cooler homes, or sleepers who feel the cold easily
Our summerweight duvets have 20% less wool than the regular weight, and the deluxe duvets have 20% more wool than the regular weight.
SnugSleep regular weight duvets in twin, double, queen and king sizes are also available in a luxurious, breathable bamboo/cotton cover. (70% bamboo and 30%cotton).
Avaiable Sizes:
- Twin 64" x 88" •
- Double 78" x 88" •
- Queen 89" x 90" •
- King 106" x 90" •
- Super King 112" x 95"
Years ago choosing a bed blanket or quilt was simple - a Hudson's Bay blanket, a down quilt, or maybe that new fangled polyester!
- Today the choice is vast and popular options include:
- down - natural
- wool - natural
- gel fibre - petrochemical based
- hollofil - petrochemical based
- silk - natural
- bamboo - natural
Do these choices make good duvets?
- A good duvet should:
- provide good insulation
- be lightweight, comfortable and contouring
- readily absorb the moisture vapour given off by the body while asleep
- be non allergenic and free of petrochemical products
Of the four remaining natural materials, wool is the only one that meets all these criterion. So now the question is how to choose a wool duvet?
The wool fill should be hi bulk (trapping lots of air for insulation), resilient and light in weight. A flat, heavy wool duvet indicates poor quality wool that will not insulate well. The cover should be soft, breathable and allow the wool fill to contour the sleeper's position. If the cover is stiff, rustles or is hard to breathe through, it means the cover is probably downproof cotton which eliminates wool's moisture controlling benefits.
The SnugSleep Advantage our duvets are filled with hi bulk 100% New Zealand wool specially selected to provide optimum loft and insulation. Our specialized carding process increases the loft and resilience of the wool batts further before they are quilted into soft, breathable percale cotton. Under a SnugSleep wool duvet the temperature is "just right", ensuring maximum sleeping comfort.
Rest assured... its wool, it's SnugSleep™
